Privacy policy
How Vitalis Clinical Research collects, uses, stores and discloses personal and health information, under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), the Australian Privacy Principles and the Health Records Act 2001 (Vic).
What we collect
Contact details you give us when you register interest or make an enquiry. Health information collected during screening and participation, including medical history, examination findings and test results. Information about your participation in previous studies. Technical information about your use of this website.
Why we collect it
To assess whether you are eligible for a study, to conduct the study safely and to meet our legal and regulatory obligations, to contact you about studies you have asked to hear about, and to maintain records we are required to keep.
Who sees it
Study data provided to the sponsor is identified by a code, not by your name. Your identity may be seen by the study team here, by monitors and auditors acting for the sponsor, and by regulators and the ethics committee — all of whom are bound by confidentiality obligations. We do not sell your information and we do not use it for advertising.
How long we keep it
Clinical trial records are retained for the period required by regulation and by the agreement with the sponsor of each study, which is generally measured in years rather than months. Participant database records are kept until you ask to be removed.
Your rights
You may request access to the information held about you, ask for it to be corrected, and ask to be removed from the participant database at any time by contacting the Privacy Officer at privacy@vitalisresearch.com.au. If you are not satisfied with how a privacy complaint is handled, you may escalate it to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner, or — for complaints concerning health information in Victoria — to the Health Complaints Commissioner (Victoria).
